Eastern Village Co-housing Community

The adaptive reuse of a long vacant, mid-1950s office building included an entry courtyard, a green roof that provides rainwater runoff control, and a “green screen” with a trellis along the front facade that supports deciduous vines.  The courtyard was transformed from a parking lot into an entry garden with seating areas. This project was designed and built while Carla Ellern was at Lila Fendrick Landcape Architects, where she worked with project architects to gain a LEED Silver rating from the U.S. Green Building Council.
